I’m Francesca, a documentary Beckenham wedding photographer. I photograph weddings the way they really unfold: the nervous laugh before the ceremony, the hug that goes on a little too long, the grandparent dancing in the corner. No stiff posing and no long lists of staged shots, just your day, told honestly.
I live in Beckenham, so this area feels like home. I know Beckenham Place Park and the surrounding area well, so I can suggest the best spots for relaxed portraits.
My documentary style
Documentary wedding photography means I stay in the background and let things happen. I pay attention to details and expressions, to the happiness, energy and love that fill a wedding day, and I look for different angles and perspectives so that the pictures feel alive and not predictable.
You will get portraits too, but they are relaxed and natural. I give gentle direction when it helps, and otherwise I let you be yourselves. My work has been recognised by WPJA, Fearless Photographers, This Is Reportage and Photographers Keeping it Real.
Weddings in Beckenham and nearby
Beckenham has some of South London’s best green spaces and some very relaxed wedding venues. Beckenham Place Mansion, set in the lawns and trees of Beckenham Place Park, is one of my favourites: it has indoor and outdoor space, lots of room for guests, and a laid-back feel that suits a documentary approach. A real Beckenham wedding: Kate and David
In September 2023 I photographed Kate and David’s wedding at Beckenham Place Mansion, in the heart of Beckenham Place Park.
The day began at home in Beckenham, where Kate got ready surrounded by friends, family and her children. Kat Sperring Makeup took care of her makeup, and the house was full of the nerves, laughter and little moments that make the morning of a wedding so special.
The ceremony, the wedding meal, the speeches, the drinks and the dancing all took place at the mansion, which has plenty of space indoors and outdoors and a relaxed feel that suited the day. Clerk Kitchen provided the food, and there was time for guests to spill out onto the lawns and enjoy the park. At the end of the night, David even took over the decks and DJed for his own wedding.
I photographed everything as it unfolded, with no posing, from the quiet moments before the ceremony to the dancing at the end of the night. Kate and David said I captured the emotion of the day perfectly.
