Being a Rosendale Pub wedding photographer is always a pleasure. Nestled in the heart of Dulwich, this beautiful London venue perfectly combines relaxed pub charm with generous wedding spaces, making it an ideal choice for couples looking for a stylish but informal celebration in London. I love photographing weddings here because every part of the day feels genuine, full of laughter, emotion and natural moments rather than formalities.

As a London wedding photographer, my approach is completely documentary. I don’t interrupt your day with endless posing or staged moments. Instead, I quietly observe everything unfolding naturally, capturing the real atmosphere, the little interactions and the genuine emotions that make your wedding unique.

A relaxed wedding at The Rosendale Pub

The Rosendale Pub has become one of South London’s favourite wedding venues, offering a wonderful mix of contemporary interiors, beautiful outdoor spaces and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re planning an intimate celebration or a larger reception with family and friends, it provides the perfect setting for a relaxed, informal wedding. I’ve photographed at the Rosendale in summer and in the winter months. In the winter, there are heaters outdoors, and it’s covered so to feel cosy, and in the summer it offers a generous space to mingle and spend some relaxing time with family and friends. There is also a ping pong table where usually guests enjoy playing competitions in between drinks! I find this location particularly special as it is very local to me, being located in Beckenham, around 20 minutes away.

Confetti, bubbles and evening celebrations

One of my favourite spots at The Rosendale Pub is the garden, which offers plenty of space for a wonderful confetti shot. Guests can easily form two lines, allowing the couple to walk between them while being showered with confetti, creating beautiful, natural photographs full of laughter and celebration.

Another fantastic alternative might be bubbles. They create a fun atmosphere, look beautiful in photographs and are always a hit with both children and adults. I’ve also photographed a wedding where the couple chose sparklers instead. As dusk fell, everyone gathered in the garden holding sparklers while the newlyweds walked through the middle. It created a magical atmosphere and some truly memorable images.

Another lovely location for portraits is the small corner by the staircase leading to the upper floor. It offers a fantastic quieter moment away from the celebrations and makes a beautiful backdrop for a few relaxed photographs before returning to your guests.

Whether it’s confetti, bubbles, sparklers, or simply enjoying time with your family and friends, my aim is always the same: to capture these moments naturally, without interrupting the flow of your wedding day.

Group photographs and couple portraits

One of the advantages of getting married at The Rosendale Pub is that there are some fantastic spots for photographs without ever having to leave your guests for long.

Family group photographs are usually taken outside at the main entrance, where there is plenty of space to gather everyone together. This is also where I often photograph the large group shot from an elevated position, creating a beautiful image of all your family and friends looking up, often raising a glass of champagne to celebrate.

When it’s time for your couple portraits, I like to keep everything relaxed and natural. Rather than taking you away from your guests for a long photo session, we’ll simply enjoy a short walk around the local area, making the most of Dulwich’s charming surroundings. I always include some of the local character in your photographs, giving you images that truly reflect where you celebrated your wedding. That could be the roundabout just in front of the pub, with passing cars often sounding their horns and cheering for the newlyweds. Those spontaneous reactions always bring huge smiles and contribute to natural and genuine expressions.

The Rosendale Pub itself also offers some lovely portrait locations. One of my favourites is the charming staircase leading to the upper floor, where there’s a quiet little corner with a beautiful light that creates a dramatic backdrop for a few portraits.

Of course, no Rosendale Pub wedding gallery would be complete without the classic portrait in front of the pub itself. It’s become something of a tradition and provides a timeless photograph that perfectly captures the place where your wedding memories were made.

Photographing the reception and the evening celebrations

One of the reasons I enjoy photographing weddings at The Rosendale Pub is the flexibility of its event space. The elegant Garden Room is flooded with natural light from its large windows, creating a bright and welcoming setting for the wedding ceremony.

After the ceremony, the room is transformed into the reception space, showing just how versatile the venue is. Depending on the couple’s style, it can be arranged with a long top table positioned in front of the beautiful windows, where the newlyweds sit with their closest family. At the same time, guests are seated at round tables around the room. Alternatively, the space can be laid out with long rectangular tables, with the couple seated in the centre to create a more relaxed, sociable atmosphere where everyone feels part of the celebration.

As the evening begins, The Rosendale Pub transforms into a fantastic party venue. The reception room is quickly transformed into the dance floor, where the celebrations continue well into the evening. The wedding cake is usually displayed in the adjoining bar area, which later becomes the perfect space for guests to enjoy the evening buffet while catching up over a drink before heading back to the dance floor.

These are often some of my favourite moments to photograph. As a documentary wedding photographer, I simply blend into the background, capturing friends singing together, spontaneous dance moves, emotional embraces and all the joyful chaos that makes every wedding reception unique. From children showing off their best moves to grandparents joining the dancing, these genuine moments are often the photographs couples treasure the most.
