why you should hire a professional wedding photographer

Everybody knows that a good professional wedding photographer can be expensive and can take a considerable part of your budget.
I’m a Kent wedding photographer and let me explain why I think it is a MUST HAVE on your wedding day

1. full coverage

First of all, a photographer is a professional who is with you all day capturing your wedding: from the bride getting ready to the crazy moves on the dance floor. It’s the photographer’s job to capture every special moment of your wedding and anticipate the flow of events. They follow the specific schedule of events of your day just as you planned it during the consultation process and follow up meetings. A guest or a friend would not always be there, would not meet with you several times beforehand, and they would definitely not cover the whole of the event as they would most likely want to enjoy the party!!

Also, a photographer is technically prepared to take beautiful photos. They don’t improvise; they know how to deal with light and composition and they know how to get the best from each shot.

2. Equipment

Apart from their experience and ability in getting the best in different and difficult situations, the equipment is important too and the photographer knows how to use it properly and effectively. Sometimes photographers, like me, use two camera bodies so that they can always have the right lens at the right time without having to change them so that they don’t miss that photo opportunity. Guests or friends rarely would have very specific and heavy 🙂 equipment

3. direction

A professional photographer directs group shots and couple portrait session and schedules them perfectly. Since it can be stressful to think about how to organise everything, the photographer plans their job and goes over every detail during the consultation process. Usually, group shots take about 2 minutes each and happen before the reception starts and the couple portrait session last about 15/20 minutes and takes place immediately after so that the couple and their guests can relax and enjoy their day.

the price range of an average photographer and why

Generally, a good mid-range wedding photographer can cost between £900 to £1400. It sounds expensive but let me tell you what hides behind this cost:

  • between 8 to 10 hours work, which is the time your photographer will be with you on your wedding day
  • usually we shoot between 2000 and 3000 images in a wedding in order to deliver 300-500 high-quality photos. After culling (selection time), a photographer takes between 4 to 6 days (let’s say 6 hours per day on average) to manually edit every single photo
  • the public liability insurance, equipment insurance, marketing tools, software monthly subscriptions, and travelling costs

As a Kent wedding documentary photographer I strongly believe that a professional photographer is an important investment.
He will  capture those unique and special moments of your special day and make them last forever with beautiful images

Apart from the events themselves, that are obviously important, I’m talking about the emotions, the laughter, the tears and everything else that comes from the heart.

So why you should hire a professional photographer? I hope I’ve answered your question. This is your wedding day, and hopefully, you will only be having one special day. After your wedding you will have your images telling a beautiful story and holding lots of amazing memories, you will have this forever…

Here you can find some examples of photos taken at the time leading up to the ceremony, portrait sessions, group shots, wedding reception and on the dance floor. I really hope you like them
